Eugene Vearl League

BELLA VISTA, Ark. -- Eugene Vearl League, 84, died Friday (Feb. 8, 2002) at his home in Bella Vista, Ark.

He was born March 7, 1918, to Ray Edwin and Anna League in Haigler. He graduated from Stratton High School. He graduated from Colorado Springs Bible College and from the Aviation Institute of Denver in 1940. He was ordained in the Pilgrim Holiness Church in 1940 and by the Independent Fundamental Churches of America in 1952.

On June 9, 1940, he married Eileen Roberson. He pastored churches in Pond Creek, Okla. and Blackwell, Okla. from 1941 until his retirement in 1968. He was employed in aircraft design drafting at Cessna, North American Rockwell and Boeing from 1968 until 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eileen; and two brothers, Everett League and Richard League.

Survivors include a son, Eugene Vearl League, Jr. of Douglass, Kan.; a daughter, Anneva Verleen Shear of Wild Rose, Wis.; eight brothers, Robert League of Bakersville, Calif., Ray League of Oklahoma City, Okla., Evan League of Denver, Colo., Kenneth League of Ft. Worth, Texas, Marion League of Whittier, Calif.; Howard League, Roy League and Warren League all of Stratton; and two sisters, Eileen Freed of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Delores June Campbell of Longmont, Colo.

Services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the Bella Vista Funeral Chapel in Bella Vista, Ark. Burial will be in the Bella Vista Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name.
