Otto Potthoff

Otto Potthoff, 88, died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at Community Hospital in McCook.

He was born June 28, 1913, to Herman Fredrick and Anna (Gorath) Potthoff in Geisselhorst, Oldenburg, Germany. The family moved to Red Willow County in 1918. He graduated from Red Willow High School in 1932.

On March 12, 1955, he married Gertrude Karnowski in Germany. They spent their married lives farming south of McCook. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Divine Peace in McCook.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 brothers, Gerhard, John, Fred, William, Dick, Herman, August, Gustav, Glenn and Herold; three sisters, Helen Keen, Gertrude Couroisier and Frieda Potthoff.

Survivors include his wife Gertrude; one daughter, Brigitta and husband, Steve Post; one son, Merwin Potthoff; and three grandchildren.

Services were today, 11 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Rev. Carl Pullmann officiating. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery.
