COZAD -- Doris Swanson, 63, died Monday (April 8, 2002) at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was born April 23, 1938, at Stockville to Alva and Velma (Masters) Greenlee. She graduated from high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis.

On May 20, 1956, she married Rodney "Swede" Swanson at Curtis. They made their home in McCook and Kearney while her husband was still in college. The couple then made their home at Giltner, Doniphan, Chappell, Red Cloud and Ainsworth before moving to Cozad in 1990. She had taught preschool and worked in drug stores. While in Cozad, she worked in the kitchen and later as a library aid at the high school.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Leah Circle, and the Cozad Country Club. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney "Swede" of Cozad; two daughters, Julie and husband, Scott Nugent of Kearney and Amy Swanson of Calhoun, Ga.; two sons, Mark of Denver, Colo. and Eric of Cozad; three sisters, Nita and husband, Kenneth Malleck of McCook, Ida Mae "Babe" Gilliland of Bend, Ore. and Karen and husband, Marion Tatum of Gothenburg; four brothers, Ralph and wife, Erma Greenlee of Hot Springs, S.D., Kenneth and wife, Onie Greenlee of North Platte, Truman "Tim" and wife, Lael Greenlee of Gothenburg and James and wife, Viola Greenlee of Columbia, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
