GERING -- Charlie A. Roe, 97, died Wednesday (April 24, 2002) at Heritage Health Care Center in Gering.

He was born March 6, 1905, to Frank and Sarah Roe and was raised on a farm north of Hayes Center. He graduated in 1923 in Hayes Center and worked for two years for Ben Kemp.

On Aug. 15, 1925, he married Erma Morey in Holyoke, Colo. They lived on the family farm until 1948, when they moved to Hayes Center. Charlie worked for the ASCS office as a field reporter for several years.

He was a member of the Union Congregational Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Erma Roe; infant daughter, Charlene; one brother, Harvey Roe; two sisters, Jennie Counce and Drenda Mattie; and two sons-in-law.

Survivors include two daughters, Nadyne Hopkins and Arline Adams; son-in-law, Arthur Adams; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the Hayes Center Union Congregational Church with Pastor Steven Berry officiating. Interment will be at the Hayes Center Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the Hayes Center Ambulance Fund.
