Louise W. Torluemke

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Louise W. Torluemke, 91, died Monday (May 6, 2002) at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kan.

She was born Jan. 1, 1911, to C.F. and Adeline (Berndt) Germeroth at Russell Springs, Kan. The family moved to Hoxie when she was a small child. She attended Lutheran parochial school and graduated from Hoxie High School. She taught school in a one room school house.

On Sept. 3, 1931, she married Walter Torluemke at Oberlin. She was accomplished in flower art and had made several floral ornaments for the Kansas Christmas Tree.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; one son, Mark; and two sisters, Margaret Hill and Marie Euhus.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Toruemke and wife, Janet and Gary Torluemke all of Aurora, Colo.; one daughter, Anita and husband, Larry Wolgast of Topeka, Kan.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin with Pastor Chad Eckles officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery at Oberlin.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, 7-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. John's Lutheran Church, Midland Hospice, or Aldersgate Village.
