Judy Annette Fries

LEANDER, Texas -- Judy Annette Fries of Leander, Texas passed away Saturday, June 22, 2002.

She was born on April 13, 1944, to Ray and Ruth Reiter in Kearney. She graduated from Kearney High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in June 1966 and began a teaching career in Gothenburg. She married U.S. Navy Ensign Wayne Fries on June 19, 1970, in Kearney, and they moved to San Diego, Calif.

Judy and her husband moved to a farm near Palisade in 1972 where they farmed for 17 years. In August 1990, they moved to Leander, Texas. Judy worked as a retailer of greeting cards, a substitute teacher for the Leander ISD and as a librarian at the Cedar Park Public Library.

Judy is survived by her husband Wayne Fries of Leander; children, Catherine and husband, Jason Babcock of Lincoln; Elizabeth and husband, Shawn Quick of Pflugerville, Texas; Michael Fries of Leander; Angela and husband, Edgar Schlickeisen of Temple, Texas; grandchildren, Abigail and Eliana Babcock; Jonathan and Brennan Quick; Rhiannon and Kayleigh Schlickeisen; parents, Ray and Ruth Reiter of Kearney; brother, Richard Reiter and wife, Marla of Bennon, Neb.; sister, Deborah and husband, Gary Elliott of Kearney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael G. Teneriello and the kind staff of Austin Hospice for their assistance and care.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Beck Funeral Home, Cedar Park, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Beck with Rev. Brian Lightsey officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2002 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.
