Doris G. Green, 92, died Monday (Sept. 2, 2002) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

She was born Aug. 28, 1910, at Danbury to Ed Austin and Edith (Newberry) Ruby. She attended school in Danbury and McCook Junior College, and later taught school in the Rising Sun District in Red Willow County.

On May 6, 1931, she married Vern R. Green at her mother's home in Danbury. Except for five years in Leadville, Colo., they were lifetime farmers in the Danbury area.

She was a member of the Danbury Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Woman's Association.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Vern; and six sisters, Irene Boyer, Pearl Wristen, Marie Messinger, Winona Boyer and two who died in infancy.

Survivors include her son, Don Green and wife, Joyce of Casper, Wyo.; two daughters, Gwen and husband, Jim Lee, and Eleanor and husband, Dean Skiles all of Danbury; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Roy Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Danbury-Marion Cemetery.

Visitation will be today until 8 p.m.

The family requests memorials be given to the Danbury Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.
