Vesta Fern Weiss

Vesta Fern Weiss, 83, of Kearney, formerly of McCook died Wednesday (September 4, 2002) at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney.

She was born June 9, 1919, to Charles and Pearl (McCoy) Harshfield. She grew up and attended school in Arapahoe.

On Aug. 10th, 1941, she married Reuben Weiss in Oberlin. The couple made their home in McCook and she was employed at Hillcrest Nursing Home until her retirement in 1981.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Marie Danfield and Anna Jean Harshfield.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Weskamp of North Platte, Linda Fox of Oberlin and Debbie Conroy of Kearney; one son Richard Weiss of Kearney; two sisters, Verle Rito of Seattle, Wash., and Wilma Fahnholz of Sacramento, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m. at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Pastor Dean Pofahl officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be Saturday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday 2 -8 p.m., at the funeral home.
