Lester John Haussler

ARAPAHOE -- Lester John Haussler, 82, died Sunday (Sept. 29, 2002) at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Arapahoe.

He was born May 28, 1920, at Fremont and was adopted by Herman C.W. and Marie Sophie E. (Luhman) Haussler. He attended country school near Holbrook.

On Aug. 9, 1941, he married Lelia Ann McCoy at Norton, Kan. Most of their married life was spent in the Holbrook and Arapahoe area. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years, retiring in the mid-1980's. He moved to the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Nursing Home in August of 2000.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Arapahoe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mable Holder.

Survivors include his wife, Lelia of Arapahoe; three sons, Lester Haussler and wife, Marlene of Golden, Colo., Danny Haussler and wife, Alicia of Grand Island and Doran Haussler and wife, Jerri of Hastings; one sister, Edith Teet of Western, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Dr. Hyeongdong Baek officiating. Burial will follow at the Arapahoe Cemetery.

Visitation will be today until 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be given in his name.
