Kenneth F. Hartman, 63, died Tuesday (Nov. 12, 2002) at his home in McCook. He was born July 29, 1939, to Loren Paul and Madeline May (Chesley) Hartman at Arnold. He grew up in Arnold and graduated from Arnold High School in 1957. He graduated from Kearney State Teachers College in 1965, with a masters degree in business and guidance counseling.

On Jan. 1, 1961, he married Joan Marshall and they lived at Bassett before moving to McCook in 1965. He was the guidance counselor at McCook High School until his retirement in 1998.

On June 17, 1995, he married Karen (Skelton) Nordhausen at McCook.

He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, the McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434, where he was a past secretary, and a member of the McCook Masonic Lodge No. 135 AF&AM.

He was preceded in death by his father; an infant brother, David; and an infant sister, Fidelis.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of McCook; his mother, Madeline Hartman of McCook; two daughters, Barbara and husband, Dan Berkevich of Burnett, Wis., Sue and husband, Mike Cefalo of Jacksonville, N.C.; step-children, Wendi and husband, Bob Elder of McCook, Mindi and husband, Brad Dixon and Nate Nordhausen and wife, Wendi all of Wauneta, Kristopher Flaming and wife, Meg of Sarasota, Fla., Kyle Flaming of Lincoln and Karmen Flaming and fiance Michael Karatsonyi of Modesto, Calif.; and twelve grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at the funeral home.
