Clark R. Macfee

ATWOOD -- Clark R. Macfee, 90, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

He was born April 3, 1912, to Milburn Arnold and Viola Martha (Thomas) Macfee in Decatur County near Oberlin. He was a graduate of Atwood Community High School in 1932. He had been a resident of Atwood since 1916.

On Aug. 1, 1937, he married Elsie Theresia Thiringer at the Evangelical Church in Herndon. He worked for 15 years at the Atwood Bakery and later operated Macfee Oil Company with his brother, Dean, for 32 years, retiring in 1974.

He was a member of the Atwood United Methodist Church, Atwood Masonic Lodge No. 164 AF & AM and the Order of Eastern Star Radiant Chapter 229; the Shrine and a former member of the Atwood Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Gordon, Dean, Thor and Dorwin Macfee.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie of Atwood; one daughter, Marlene and husband, Lloyd Friesendahl of Topeka, Kan.; one sister, Ena Macfee of Hays, Kan.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Atwood with the Rev. Terry McGuire officiating. Interment will be in the Atwood Fairview Cemetery with graveside rites by the Atwood Masonic Lodge No. 164 AF & AM.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Atwood United Methodist Church, Shriner's Children's Hospital or to the charity of choice.
