ATWOOD -- Shirley A. (McClarey) McCain, 68, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at her home in rural Atwood.

She was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Santa Monica, Calif., to James and Dorothy (Shinn) McClarey. She graduated from high school in Van Nuys, Calif., in 1952.

On Sept. 4, 1952, she married Louis John McCain at Wichita Falls, Texas. They moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she was a homemaker and operated Meadow Trail Beauty Shop. They moved to Atwood in June of 1973. She worked as a certified medical aide at the Atwood Good Samaritan Center for 14 years.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Radiant Chapter 229.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Louis John McCain of Atwood; son, Louis John McCain II of Olathe, Kan.; three daughters, Terry Sue and husband, Cliff Shaffer of Henderson, Nev., Dottie Lee and husband, Bob Wixson of Rawlins, Wyo., and Mary Lou and husband, Dennis Merklin of St. Francis; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Brantley Funeral Chapel in Atwood with the Rev. James Larson officiating and rites by the Order of Eastern Star Radiant Chapter 229. Interment will be in the Atwood Fairview Cemetery in Atwood.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Order of Eastern Star Radiant Chapter 229 or to the Atwood Good Samaritan Center.
