William 'Bill' L. Coe

William L. Coe, 83, died Saturday (March 22, 2003) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

He was born Feb. 9, 1920, to Roy E. and Maude C. (Ballard) Coe at McCook. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937.

On Dec. 27, 1941, he married Felice C. Carriero in New York City, N.Y.

He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II from 1937-1950. He had lived in McCook since June of 1999.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Tin Can Sailors of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James and Heark Coe and Robert and Stanley Sutter; and one sister, Maxine Gibson.

Survivors include his wife, Felice of McCook; two sons, William J. Coe and wife, Judy of Max and John C. Coe and wife, Veronica of Williamsburg, Ky.; one daughter, Kathryn and husband, Frank Etier of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Melba E. Stafford of Salans, Calif. and Alta J. Hester of Lincoln; one sister-in-law, Anita Coe of Mentone, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial were today, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in McCook.

Memorials may be given in his name.
