DODGE CITY, Kan. -- Roger W. Brown, 78, died Saturday (June 7, 2003) at his home in Wichita, Kan.

He was born Aug. 13, 1924, in McCook, to Orville and Irma (Flitcraft) Brown. He grew up at McCook and graduated from McCook High School. He started out in dairy farming and later changed to raising cattle and farming.

On June 5, 1988, he married Alma Kreie Dinkela at Dodge City, Kan. They farmed at McCook for four years, retired, and then moved to Odessa, Texas where they lived for eight years. They have lived in Wichita for the past two years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa.

Survivors include his wife, Alma E. Brown of Wichita; a son, David Dinkela of Odessa; two daughters, Patricia Dinkela of Albuquerque, N.M., and Maurita Cowan of Wichita; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at the Ford Cemetery at Ford, Kan., with the Rev. Kirk Larson officiating. Interment will be at the Ford Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at the Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City.

Memorials may be given in his name.
