'Scherenschnitte'

Friday, January 18, 2013

Paper cutting takes on a whole new meaning with Vera Ingrid Hanson's "Scherenschnitte," which means "scissor cuts" in German. The 16th-century Swiss-German folk-art tradition involves meticulously cutting symmetrical designs in paper. Hanson, of McCook, will display her work at the McCook Arts Center. She is the Vault featured artist for the month of January. The Norris Avenue gallery is open Tuesdays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesday through Friday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (McCook Daily Gazette)
