Accidents

DEC. 27, 2012:

Unknown location -- a black 2004 Mercedes Benz owned by Kyle D. Lauer, 18, 805 E. Sixth Street, was struck by an unknown object at an unknown location, leaving white transfer paint on the front driver's side fender and causing damage to the rear quarter panel. The incident is estimated to have caused $400 in combined vehicle damage.

JAN. 5, 2013:

1:17 a.m., 218 West B Street -- a pickup driven by William Joseph Staton II, 29, Hot Springs, Arkansas, while backing out of a parking stall in the alley between West First and West Second Street, drove over 24-year-old Jared John Ladeaux of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Ladeaux had been trying to get in on the vehicle's passenger side and when a passenger in the pickup would not let him in, he attempted to move around the rear of the vehicle and slipped on an icy roadway, faling as the vehicle began to reverse. The vehicle backed over the top of Ladeaux, causing injuries to his face and arms, he was subsequently transported to Community Hospital by emergency responders. Witnesses reported the vehicle's tires did not make contact but the vehicle's axle did. According to the accident report alcohol was suspected of being a factor in the incident, Staton received a citation and his vehicle was impounded.
