The McCook Interact Club donates Christmas gifts to be given to a McCook family through the Family Resource Center. Interact is the student organization of Rotary. Interact President Sara Larington said the club has done a number of community service activities during the first semester of school. The group exhibited a float in the Heritage Days parade and also sold bottled water at the park. The proceeds from the sale of the water went to The Water Project, which is an organization that builds wells in Africa. The club will again be selling water and doing split-the-pot at the home Bison basketball games on Jan. 4, to raise money for The Water Project. In October, the club participated in the Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack and also in Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween for children of the community. November found the group putting together two food baskets to share with two families in the area for Thanksgiving. Interact will be assisting the McCook Rotary Club with several activities during the 2012 First Night celebration. During the spring semester Interact will be busy serving the community in such ways as the Purple Pinky Project at McCook Elementary to promote polio awareness. They will also host a motivational speaker, Rob Quillen, for the entire high school student body as well as the public on March 18.
