Letter to the Editor

Missed point

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Dear Editor,

Mike Hendricks, in his left-wing diatribe in his column of Nov. 9-11, misses the whole point on why Democrats won the election.

They won because of Obama's campaign of lies, smears, and character assassination of Mitt Romney, and not because the Democrats are so beloved, except by the welfare mobs.

The recent election proves that America no longer has a moral majority as it did in the Reagan years, but now has an immoral majority, one that's comprised mostly of atheists who believe in same-sex marriage, abortion, open borders, free contraception, destruction of the family, government handouts and lawful marijuana, among other perversions.

Traditional values lost big-time in this election and the "moderates" in the Republican Party are deluding themselves if they think they can get "minority" voters by "reaching out" to them. These groups are so brainwashed they'll never vote for a Republican or conservative.

One day, hopefully they'll wise up if it isn't too late, when the Democrats destroy the dollar and the nation hurtles towards hell.

Here in bankrupt Taxifornia, millions of illegal aliens are sucking the system dry and the corrosive Democrat Party has a stranglehold on the state.

Twenty years ago, we were a Republican state with plentiful jobs and a surplus in the treasury. The Democrats are counting on an Obama bailout.

Be vigilant, Nebraskans, or you'll suffer the same fate as us in the foreseeable future.

Sincerely,

Thomas Kope,

Baldwin Park, California

  • This guy doesn't sound very sane. There's just so much wrong here.

  • Really Bob S....He is correct as we have become a "hand out" country with those receiving believing that they are deserving of government help. These people need a "Hand Up" not a Hand Out!

  • Something like aid to single women with kids , for example, are designed to be a hand up sort of thing - giving the kids the opprtunities they would not have otherwise. I would guess that almost all these programs are designed to help people from being desperaely poor and keep them from falling through the cracks. The woman who gets this knows full well that she is not guaranteed this money. She knows if romney is voted in it may be gone and if obama is voted in she will continue to receive it. So, she will vote for obama. She's not immoral. Not an atheist. Not for the destuction of the family or a proponent of same sex marriage, etc. She sees her vote as helping to insure continual aid - which she needs. I think your idea and the ideas of thomas kope are way too simplistic. You have to let people vote their own interest.

  • Bob, here's the deal, a single mother with children is one thing..... ONE THING in a sea of career wellfarers who not only know the system, they manipulate it. This country was built on hard work and sacrifice, what we have now are kids and young adults looking for their next score. They want what their parents have, but they don't want to work for it for the decades that their parents did. If fact they don't want to work at all, they're Americans and they are entitled.

You sir are kidding yourself if you truly believe that the money is going to those that really need it, it's just going to the ones that want it.

What we have going on here is the 2nd Roman Empire. A once great system, powerful, feared if not respected, then laziness and greed step in and the empire become week out as a result of its own comfort zone and she falls.

When the lazy and the unproud become the majority, who is left to roll up their sleeves and carry them to the dinner table? We are a nation of lazy "entitled" people with no one left to foot the bill. Yeah, bob, good luck with that mindset, I'm sure you can complain about the lack of food stamps in the welfare line when no one turns a tax dollar to support you anymore. Whether you're currently receiving government help yet or not, a country can not carry on as we are and expect tomorrow to come.

IT'S TIME TO GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AMERICA! Easy street always turns into a dead end!

Good write up Mr Thomas Kope

  • Just more of the same. Of course it is absolutely not true that the lazy and unproud are the majority. There are all kinds of lazy people - both rich and poor. But, they are by no means a majority. Not exactly sure what unproud means here - maybe that they have no pride in themselves. But, this again is nothing like a majority or even close to one. I personally think there are all kinds of people scaming off the government - both rich and poor. Taking what they do not deserve. I still dont see why the lady with the kids should not vote so as to promote her interest. Why would anyone be critical of that? You have to remember too that the country has always been controled by the wealthy. If it fails it is because the wealthy have dropped the ball. People tend to think that the poor are messing up. It's likely just the opposite - the wealthy are probably messing up in some way.

  • Bob, I'm not saying that the mother can't vote they way she wants, I'm saying that if she votes for a candidate, solely for the purpose of getting more assistance, then she won't truly find a way out of her plight. Say what you will about the poor under privileged people of this country but I have had a history that can prove my point. I was once in an accident that left me debilitated for 9 months. Leg cast, two arms casted and a foot casted. 3 months and 12 surgeries into this ordeal and I found myself at risk of loosing everything I had worked for. I turned to Social Security Disability. I was turned down twice, even with letters from 2 surgeons stating that I would be unable to work for at least a year.

As I couldn't count on that help, and I had a family of many counting on me, yet dutifully taking care of me for a yet unknown length of time, I decided that I could either roll over and die, or man up and get out of the situation that I was in. 6 months later and an additional 5 surgeries, a stern dose of humble pie as I constantly dealt with my creditors and with the continued support of my family, I managed to get back on my feet and back to work, in a leg brace and wrist braces.

The moral of my story is NOT how I battled back from adversity, but how the lack of options and government support FORCED me to rise above the obstacles. Had I gotten government support back then, I may very well be on it still today not knowing that I had the ability tighten up my boot straps. I suspect this is what our forefathers did as well. I take pride in knowing that I am able to take care of my family just as they cared for me. My children realized what sacrifice was, they learned what it was like to NOT have the best dinner every evening and that single event not only changed who I was, but my children as well. Adversity builds character.

Easy Street leads to a dead end. When your meal ticket is gone and you can't fend for yourself, then you have become trapped in a whirlpool from which escape is highly unlikely.

As far as the laziness of this country goes.... Well I see that every day and I live in one of the best "work ethic" states in the nation. If the free loaders aren't the majority, explain how the re-elect managed to stay in the oval office. I assure you it wasn't because the past 4 years have offered up unprecedented opportunities. Its quite the opposite, more people became dependent on welfare, and then by promising to continue to offer that feed bag, those that found themselves in dire straights, rather than being discontent with what happened to them during the past 4 years, actually HAD to re-elect so that they could continue to exist.

A great plan on the candidate's behalf no doubt, but it has made our Great Nation weak and without options, or in other words.... desperate.

Like I said, its time to kiss that goodbye, don't let big brother attach puppet strings to you, face the adversity, tighten your boot straps and take control of your life. It won't be easy, but the American freedom wasn't obtained by throwing tea parties, it was obtained by FORCING tea parties. That's the way our forefathers did it, that's the way my family did it and it seemed to work out pretty good. Get back to work, create your own jobs if you can't find one. We have the most innovative society on Earth and yet we let ourselves be diapered by a government that put us in this boat to begin with. When the powers to be have the monopoly... Well you know what happen with monopolies, it doesn't turn out well for the people needing the products and services the monopolies offer.
