Opinion
Racist is the charge
Tuesday, November 20, 2012
I didn't know that I was a racist but evidently it is true because "Mike at Night" stated it as fact. "Racism was the underlying current in both of Obama's races for the Presidency and it's the underlying current in the secession movement as well." writes Mike Hendricks in his column titled "A Nation Divided."
Here I thought that I was voting for the Republican candidate that ran against Barack Obama each time but my motivation, unknown to me, was because Obama was born black, well only half black. I thought I voted for the opposing candidates with the opinion they would do a better job leading the USofA but that wasn't it at all. It was Obama's black skin that made all the difference.
Now I understand that after the recent election surveys showed that 96 percent of those voters that identified themselves as black cast a vote for the black candidate President Barack Obama. That was down from the 97 percent he garnered in his first election. In the last presidential election with white only candidates President Bush received something like 30 percent of the votes cast by blacks. Evidently it is not racist for blacks to vote overwhelmingly for black candidates based upon skin color. Blacks can't be racist; it is only whites that are racist. I didn't know that I was a racist but evidently Mike knows that it is a fact.
I have always taken great pride having served in the U.S. Air Force the first branch of the military that truly integrated all personnel after President Truman's order to do so. Black crewmembers I served with were accepted for their ability to do the job. Truly they were family, part of the team. I just didn't realize that I was being racist for loving them as a brother.
I will admit to being prejudiced. Is that the same as racist? You see I am prejudiced against men who don't shave and cut their hair. When meeting such individuals I have to swallow hard and look beyond the scroungy appearance to see the true value of the individual.
Case in point was a kind, hard-working McCook man from several years ago. Born a foreigner with a strange Kiwi accent, he sported a full beard. Still, he proved to be a very smart, very kind Christian family man that I came to love and respect. Wonderful friend.
I'm also prejudiced against men who get women pregnant and step away from the responsibility of raising the child. Couples living together unmarried is not high on my good list either nor are tattoos. Those that do drugs, drink to excess, lie or steal I am prejudiced against also.
Teachers should be good, clean-living moral role models in my opinion, so I guess I must be racist. My God approves marriage between a man and a woman, only, so that must be racist also.
When it comes to politics I value fiscal responsibility in our leaders. I believe in a balanced federal. A $16 Trillion debt is just plain criminal. Our U.S. Senate has not voted a budget in over three years in part because we had a president that was unable to lead in completing the budget process. The president isn't doing his job, but then I must be racist because I voted against him continuing to fumble in office.
This president's incoherent foreign policy and refusal to condemn radical Islamists is troubling. Obviously he has a beef against the military and is trying to make it as obsolete as possible by forcing reductions in manpower and squeezing funds to upgrade equipment. Of course, his fumbling and inability to lead is not a factor in my opinion of the poor job that he has done. No, it is because I am racist.
Our founding fathers had the good sense to base our system of government in large part from the wisdom of our Christian Bible. No racism based on skin color to be found there. The phrase E Pluribus Unum means from many one -- which is not the same as the current liberal (progressive -- same thing) emphasis on diversity. Their goal is to divide us into ethnocentric groups that rival one another rather than work together. Pit the poor against the rich, that sort of thing, and our country is the worse for what they have done.
Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness means that our rights are given by God not government. Taxation to support limited government may be necessary, but it is not government's place to steal big time from those who earned it to redistribute to those indisposed to work and bear responsibility for making their own way.
The secession thing will go away. I feel it is only a means to protest the poor job that the federal government is doing at present.
The Civil War was about slavery. The civil rights movement, championed by Republicans and fought every step of the way by Mike's Democrats, marked a great improvement in race relations. The United States has made huge strides in reducing the bad effects of racism in this country -- at least we were well on the way until President Obama was elected and his minions deign to play the race card every opportunity.
I don't care how much Mike doeth protest, the label Racism does not wear well on my shoulders. Sorry about that my friend!
That is the way I saw it.
