Allen M. 'Bus' Wurm

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Allen M. "Bus" Wurm died Sunday (Aug. 19, 2012), at the Decatur Health Systems in Oberlin.

He was born Sept. 8, 1923, in Traer, Kansas, to Matt and Alcia (Herzog) Wurm. He was raised on a farm in Sherman Township farm in Decatur County. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1940. He served in World War II.

He married Carolyn Nelson on July 24, 1949, in Oberlin. He farmed northeast of Oberlin. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 70 and Mini Sappa Antique Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Alcia Wurm; brother, Phillip Rex Wurm, and sister, Helene Fisher.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wurm of Oberlin; son, Ward Wurm of Oberlin; and one granddaughter.

Services are Friday, Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Charlotte Strecker-Basler. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is at the funeral home on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Friday, 8 a.m. until time of service, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Mini Sappa Antique club.
