PALISADE, Nebraska -- Mark Edward Cox passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at his home in Palisade. He was 53 years old.

Mark was born on Feb. 1, 1959, at McCook to Darrel Lyle and Norma Jane (McNutt) Cox. He graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1977 where he was on the basketball and football teams. He continued his education for one semester at McCook Community College and transferred to Chadron State College graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in 1983. While at Chadron he played on the traveling baseball team.

Mark worked on the farm and raised dogs as a hobby. He loved all sports and spending time with his many nieces and nephews. Mark loved the Lord and faithfully read his Bible daily.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Reva Cox and maternal grandparents, Nathan and Dorothy McNutt.

Survivors include his parents, Darrel and Norma Cox of Hayes Center; sister, Melanie and husband, Matt Clark, of Maple Grove, Minnesota; two brothers, Mick Cox and wife, Marlene, and Maury Cox and wife, Debbie, all of Hayes Center; five nephews, six nieces; and 12 great-nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, from 1-8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.carpenterbreland.com

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, 10 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will follow at Hayes Center Cemetery.
