County to consider emergency funding for Hillcrest

Friday, July 6, 2012

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The Red Willow County Attorney will present an emergency resolution to the county commissioners Monday to borrow funding for Hillcrest Nursing Home.

The county-owned nursing home ran into a cash flow problem after a billing clerk was fired in February, and Medicare and Medicaid claims were not filed, or were filed incorrectly, for three months.

As a result, the home has been short about $225,000 a month, and needs to borrow about $1.1 million.

In addition, Chris Berry of Lutheran Family Services will speak to the county requesting a contrubution to the Juvenile Diversion Program, and the county will consider authorizing the chairman to execute the Red Willow County Employees' Medical and Dental Plan.

The consent agenda includes approval of minutes from the previous commissioners' and Noxious Weed Control Authority meetings, approve accounts payable claims, and approve changes to the pledged securities for the county treasurer. An update on CDBG No. 3 accounts also will be given.
