TORRINGTON, Wyoming -- Patrick R. Mortimore, 78, died Tuesday (April 24, 2012), at his home in Torrington.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, at the United Methodist Church with Reverend Ora Dailey officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington.

Memorials may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and prior to the service at the church.

Patrick was born April 10, 1934, in his parents farm house in Freedom, Nebraska. He was born the son of Mahlen and Eva (Callan) Mortimore. Patrick grew up in the Freedom area and he graduated high school from Indianola High School in 1952. After high school he went into the Marines. Upon his return in 1956, he married Bonnie Jussel at McCook, Nebraska. The couple then moved to Scottsbluff where they raised two children. Patrick worked at Kinder Morgan Gas Company for 43 years. After retirement the couple moved to McConaughy, Nebraska for 11 years. The couple then decided to winter in Arizona and spend their summers in Torrington.

Fishing was a big part of Patrick's life. He enjoyed fishing with his kids and his grandkids. He also enjoyed watching and listening to sports; especially his grandchildren's sports. He also liked to hunt. When he was younger, he played basketball while in the Marines. Patrick was a real fighter. He fought cancer for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Mortimore of Torrington; his son Rick and his wife, Karen Mortimore of Torrington; his daughter, Kathy and her husband, Steve Rima of Grand Junction, Colorado; his brothers, Harvey and his wife, Kathy Mortimore of Bridgeport, Nebraska and Ben and his wife, Karen Mortimore of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; his sister, Sarah Mae and her husband Leon Wright of Indianola, Nebraska; his granddaughter, Stacy and her husband, Tom Tangelder of Boise, Idaho; his granddaughter, Kim and her husband, Scott Nowatzke of Gering, Nebraska; four grandsons, Rob and his wife, Shaylee Mortimore of Torrington, Shaun and his wife, Cynthia Rima of Rock Springs, Wyomin, Travis and his wife, Brittany Mortimore of Douglas, Wyoming and Matt Templar of Torrington; and eight great grandchildren with one on the way.

Preceding him in death are his parents; two brothers, Mahlen and Clarence Mortimore; and a sister Evalyn Hinton.
