Silverware is overrated

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Pronunciation has become Declan's most recent challenge and seems to be the basis for the majority of our humorous scenarios in the evening. The latest was when his Uncle Casey was attempting to instruct him on why using a fork at the dinner table was the preferred method to eat your vegetables.

Declan was in no mood for it and continued to pick at his brocolli with his fingers. He chomped away at one piece after another while refusing to make eye contact with Casey and repeatedly yelling in between bites, "I am annoying you!"

After being interrupted by the phrase several times Casey finally paused and shook his head. "Yes, you are annoying me. But I think the word you really mean to be saying is IG-noring me," said Casey.

Which actually caused Declan to stop and finally look up at him. "Wait, what does ig...," he paused and chose his pronunciation carefully, "ig...noring mean? Yeah I am ignoring you I mean," Declan eventually said with confidence as all three of us laughed.

Truth be told, I wasn't much help to Casey during the scenario, I was more than happy with the fact that Declan was actually eating his broccoli.
