CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Terry D. Young, age 57, of Cambridge, died on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. He was born in McCook, Nebraska on Sept. 22, 1953 to Warren and Helen (Dyke) Young. Terry went to school in Indianola and graduated from Republican Valley High School in 1973. He continued his education attending Northwest Kansas School of Technology in Goodland, Kansas, studying communications. He graduated in 1975.

Terry was united in marriage to Denise Morford of Hill City, Kansas on May 31, 1975.

The couple made their home in Haxton, Colorado. Terry worked for Golden Plains Communications. In May of 1976, Terry went to work for the Cambridge Telephone company. He was employed at Cambridge Telephone and later Pinpoint Communications for over 35 years.

Terry was active member with the Cambridge Fire Department, where he served as assistant chief. He was also an EMT with the Cambridge Rescue Squad. Terry was a member of the Cambridge Lions Club International. He enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants, woodworking and his family. Terry enjoyed a good laugh and a story.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Warren Young; and mother-in-law, Charlotte Morford.

Terry is survived by his wife, Denise of Cambridge; son, Adam of Salina, Kansas; daughter, Amy of Walnut, Iowa; three grandchildren, Cole, Joseph and Elizabeth Young, all of Salina, Kansas; sister, Joyce and husband, Rich Minnick of Indianola: two brothers, twin brother, Larry and wife, Mary Jo Young of Cambridge and Delton and wife, Vicky Young of McCook, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 ,at 2 p.m., with George Probasco and Rev. Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Interment will be in the Indianola City Cemetery, Indianola, Nebraska.

Memorials may be left in Terry's name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.

Visitation will be on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-8p.m.
