FREMONT, Nebraska -- Theodore J. "Ted" Perry, 74, died Friday (July 15, 2011) at Nye Legacy Health and Rehab Center in Fremont.

He was born Sept. 16, 1936, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Theodore W. and Rose (Cuhel) Perry. He grew up in McCook, Nebraska and graduated from McCook High School, McCook Junior College and the University of Colorado at Boulder. He earned professional designation of chartered life underwriter and chartered financial consultant from the American College of Life Underwriter in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He lived in Arapahoe, Nebraska and Omaha, Nebraska until moving to Fremont.

He began his insurance career with New York Life Insurance Company in 1961. In 1973, he partnered with Bill Emanuel and Jim Ebers to form E.P.E. Insurance Enterprises. They worked together for 39 years until the death of Mr. Emanuel. He became a full-time agent for United Life Insurance Company in 1983.

He married Evelyn Morris on May 5, 1982, in Fremont.

He was a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors since 1966 and was its past president. He was past president of the Omaha Chapter of Society of Financial Service Professionals, past president of the Nebraska State Association of Life Underwriters, member of the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce since 1966, during which time he served 23 years as a diplomat, and he was a member of the Fremont Area Service Club. He served on the board of directors of the Fremont Area Crime Stoppers and was a charter member of Two Rivers Pheasants Forever Chapter. He was also a member of the Humane Society, St. James Episcopal Church and the Fremont Golf Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Dale Perry.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; son, Korey and wife, Allyson Perry of Fremont; daughters, Kimberly and husband, Dan Inselman of Fremont, Kristi Broder of Hastings, Iowa, and Karla and husband, Mike Holloway of Fremont; step-son, Scott and wife, Jennifer Turnbull of Casper, Wyoming; step-daughter, Kristin and husband, Tim Walz of Lincoln, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Thursday, 11 a.m., at St. James Episcopal Church in Fremont with the Rev. Scott Jensen officiating.

There is no visitation, however, family will receive friends Wednesday, 4-7 p.m., at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and Thursday, 10-11 a.m., at the church.
