OBERLIN, Kansas -- Nolene June Fortin, 86, died Wednesday (April 6, 2011) at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

She was born June 1, 1924, in Satanta, Kansas, to Clifton and Bessie (Moss) Herren. She grew up in Satanta and received her education in Satanta and Moscow, Kansas.

She lived on a farm north of Oberlin.

She married Keith Fortin Sept. 3, 1942, in Dresden, Kansas.

She was a homemaker and a member of Oberlin Assembly of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Janet; sister, Winifred Siegrist; and nephew, Raymond Odneal.

Survivors include her eight sons, John of Overton, Nebraska, Joe of St. Francis, Kansas, Jack, Jerry, Jay, Jamie, Jeff and Jason, all of Oberlin; four daughters, Judy Macha of Plainview, Texas, Jane Carlisle of Oberlin, Jill McCorkle of McCook, Nebraska, and Joyce Juenemann of Selden, Kansas; sister, Edna Mae Swafford of Shoreline, Washington; 43 grandchildren; and 57 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Royce Leitner officiating. Interment is in Cedar Bluffs Cemetery in Cedar Bluffs, Kansas.

Visitation is Friday until 8 p.m. at the Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Saturday from 8 a.m. until the services at the church.
