GOODLAND, Kansas -- Jeanette Sulzman, 76, died Tuesday (Jan. 18, 2011), in Goodland.

She was born March 13, 1934, in Sheridan County, Kansas, to William and Betty (Zodrow) Sulzman. She was raised on a farm near Selden, Kansas. She graduated from Leoville High School in 1952, Marymount College in Salina, Kansas, and St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, where she received both her master's degree and doctorate.

After graduation, she lived in both Kansas and Nebraska where she taught school, was an addiction counselor, and an ESL teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Sulzman; and two brothers, Don and Frank Sulzman.

She is survived by three brothers, Bob and wife, Vivian Sulzman of Cottonwood, Arizona, Bill Sulzman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jim Sulzman of Selden; five sisters, Mary Lou and husband, Jack Laird of Lakewood, Colorado, Agnes and husband, Don Roberts of McCook, Nebraska, Virginia Sulzman of Centennial, Colorado, Susanne and husband, Wayne Manley of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Carol Sulzman of Oberlin, Kansas; and sister-in-law, Lillian Sulzman of Dresden, Kansas.

Funeral services are Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church in Leoville, Kansas with the Rev. Mark Berland. Interment is in the Selden Cemetery in Selden.

Visitation is Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon, at the funeral home in Selden. A vigil service is Friday, 7 p.m., also at the funeral home.
