INDIANOLA, Nebraska -- Patricia "Pat" Ann Thompson, 60, died Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2011), at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.

She was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on March 15, 1950, to Paul and Velma (Volkman) Banzhaf. Pat attended country school at Orafino and later high school in Cambridge graduating in 1968.

In 1969, she married Gary Braaten and to this union three children were born: Sherri, Shannon and Crystal Dawn. In 1976, she married Richard Thompson and to this union three children were born: Edward, Stephanie and Steven. Pat was employed at the DayCo (Parker Hannifin) Company as a lab and quality assurance technician. She worked for more than 27 years for the company, 1976--2004).

Pat had many interests: reading, fishing, boating, bowling, traveling, quilting and family. She moved from Cambridge to Indianola in 2007. She volunteered at the Indianola Schools to help in the elementary reading program. Pat's health declined but her spirit remained strong. She had been a dialysis patient for seven years.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Crystal Dawn; two nieces, Jo Evans and Linda Banzhaf Thompson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sherri and husband, Chris Bonnett of North Platte, Nebraska; Stephanie and husband, Aaron Eaton of McCook, Nebraska; three sons, Shannon and wife, Leeann Braaten of Lamar, Colorado, Ed Thompson and fiancée, Beth Schuster of Omaha, Nebraska and Steven Thompson and fiancée, Kellie Osborn of Lamar, Colorado; three brothers, Darrel and wife, Lucille Banzhaf of McCook, Dwain and wife, Elna Banzhaf of Eustis, Nebraska, and Harold and Charlene Banzhaf of Indianola; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Memorial services are Monday, 10 a.m., at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary with the Rev. Tim Burke officiating. Inurnment is in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.

Friends may sign the memorial book on Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
