McCOOK, Nebraska -- Eleanor Ann (Kircher) Walters, 80, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 3, 2010) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Eleanor was born Sept. 10, 1930, in McCook to Edward and Elizabeth R. (Oberg) Kircher. She attended rural school and McCook High School before graduating from Danbury High School in Danbury, Nebraska in 1947.

Eleanor was united in marriage to Veryl Walters in Cambridge on Oct. 27, 1947. To this union three children were born. They made their home on a farm south of Danbury.

Eleanor helped with the farming, drove a school bus and was a busy mother and homemaker. They retired to McCook in 1994.

Eleanor was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and McCook Elk's Lodge. She loved square and ballroom dancing, playing the piano and organ, playing cards with family and friends, and spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Kircher; mother and father-in-law, John and Audra Walters; and daughter-in-law, Theresa Walters.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Veryl Walters of McCook; sons, Rod Walters of Loveland, Colorado, and Denny Walters and wife, Charlotte of Danbury; daughter, Michele and husband, Bill Witt of McCook; one brother, Jim Kircher and wife, Jean of Berlington, Washington; one sister, Jane and husband, Lewis Palmer of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Chandler and Rachel Witt, Ryan Walters and fiancé, Hannah Helldusch, and Lindsey (Walters) Escobar; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Austen and Makaila; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Rosary is Sunday, 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

Mass of Christian burial is Monday, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in McCook.

Visitation is Friday, 1-4 p.m., and Sunday, 4 p.m. until the time of the rosary at the funeral home.
