Kearney, Nebraska -- Lela Myrth Norman, 101, formerlyof Atwood, Kansas, died Saturday (Oct. 16, 2010), at Mother Hull Home in Kearney.

She was born Jan. 13, 1909, near rural Venango, Nebraska, to Alson Vale and Sylvia (Watkins) Williams. On Aug. 22, 1927, she married Virgil Norman, and to this union two sons were born. They were married for 44 years until his death in 1971.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Edwin; two sisters, Thelma and Reva; and son, Gayle.

Her survivors include her son Arden and wife, Nancy of McCook, Nebraska; grandsons, Chuck Norman of Kearney, Bill Norman of Oxford, Nebraska, and Gayle Norman Jr. of Kearney; granddaughters, Tami Teel of McCook, and Jan Curtin of Atwood; daughter-in-law, Janet Norman of Atwood; 15 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Myrth will be remembered for her three passions in life; her family, her farming interests, and her beloved Virgil.

Funeral services are Thursday, 2 p.m., at Atwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Connie Woolbridge officiating. Burial will follow at the Atwood Cemetery.

Memorials can be given to the Atwood United Methodist Church.
