INDIANOLA, Nebraska -- Martin Laverne Fritz, 79, died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 2010) at his rural home near Indianola.
Martin was born on Aug. 13, 1931, at a home near Indianola to John R. and Lydia Marie (Troester) Fritz. He graduated from Bartley High School in 1950. From there he worked on the family farm.
On Jan. 12, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sundae M. Mues at Ash Creek. They were blessed with four children, two sons, Todd and Dennis and two daughters, Marla and Tracy. Farming was his life as well as ranching and taking care of his cows. He enjoyed working on his metal lathe, where he was always fixing something for someone and loving every minute of it.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ash Creek, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of Walter League. He also served on the Coop board for many years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Lydia Fritz; son, Dennis Fritz; and sister, Ilene Kisker.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sundae Fritz of Indianola; son, Todd Fritz and wife, Donna of North Platte, Nebraska and their children, Paula, Ben and Cory; two daughters, Marla and husband, Shane Messersmith of McCook, Nebraska and their children, Collin, Kylie, and Karsen, and Tracy and husband, Kendall Moon of Sutherland, Nebraska and their children Nathan and Jessica; one brother, Delbert Fritz and wife, Orian of Bartley, Nebraska; one sister, Erma and husband, Harvey Hinz of McCook; and numerous nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
Funeral services are Saturday, 10 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ash Creek, Nebraska with Pastor Kevin Schnakenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Bartley.
Visitation is today until 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
