McCOOK, Nebraska -- Mary Lou Glaves, 61, died Saturday (June 19, 2010) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Mary was born on July 9, 1948, in Charleston, West Virginia to Homer and Maudie O. (Buzzard) Underwood. She graduated from Seth High School in Seth, West Virginia.

She was united in marriage to John Charles Crosby. Mary moved to the McCook community in 1989 and was a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden and fishing.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son; and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, John Crosby of McCook; son, Paul Hoffer of Racine, Wisconsin; six daughters, Cathy Hoffer and Rhonda Hoffer of West Virginia, Linda Boone and Mary Ann Mobray of McCook, and Myra Smith and Sandy Wilson of Colorado; two brothers, Warren "Bucky" Underwood of Alabama; three sisters, Claudett Banales of Illinois, Jean Brown of Mississippi, and Kathleen Bairfield of West Virginia; 25 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be given in her name to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Brett Scollard officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be in the family cemetery in Illinois at a later time.
