MINDEN -- Jesse Waldean Malick, 93, died Sunday (Jan. 31, 2010) at the Bethany Home in Minden.

He was born Sept. 8, 1916, in Bloomington to Jesse Uriah Malick and Vera Mae (Thomas) Malick. He was baptized in the Bloomington Methodist Church in 1934 and attended grade school and high school at Bloomington, where he gradated in 1934. He farmed in the Bloomington area after graduation.

On Sept. 8, 1940, he married Bernice Elizabeth Haubold at the Methodist Parsonage in Franklin. He farmed northwest of Bloomington until 1950 when he moved to Trenton, moving to McCook in 1951. While residing in Trenton and McCook, he operated heavy equipment, moving dirt and building terraces. In 1966 he retired and moved back to Bloomington to farm. He moved to Naponee in June of 1998 and resided at the Bethany Home in Minden since January of 2008.

Jesse was a member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church until it closed and then he transferred his membership to the Republican City United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice; his mother in 1954; his father in 1982; two sisters, Martha Malick and Eloise Trautman and husband, Randall; five brothers-in-law, Bill Haubold and wife, Agnes, Frank Haubold and wife, Elna, Everett Haubold, Leroy Haubold and Floyd Haubold; one sister-in-law Myrtle (Haubold) Greening and her husband, Charles.

Survivors include brother-in-law Kenneth Hauboldv and wife, Virginia of Grand Island; sister-in-law Florence (Haubold) Hill of Franklin; one niece, Andrea Hart and her husband, Al of Butte, Mont.

Memorial service is Wednesday, 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Republican City with the Revs. Lorri Kentner and Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomington.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the funeral home and Wednesday at the church before service time.

Memorials may be directed to the Bernice and Jesse Malick Educational Fund, left with the funeral home staff at the funeral or with Gary or Janette Keim of Bloomington.
