Irma Louise Johnson, 81, formerly of Benkelman, died Saturday (Jan. 30, 2010) at Community Hospital in McCook.

She was born July 3, 1928, at Lawrence, to Ferdinand and Rose (Schutte) Ostdiek. She grew up in the South Fork Area, Benkelman, and Indianola.

On July 17, 1946, she married Orval Johnson in Benkelman. She spent her early married years farming, and ran Farm & Home Distributors in Benkelman from 1963 to 2003.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Alter Society.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Orval; siblings, Gerald Ostdiek, Lorraine Stevens, Alvin Ostdiek, Raymond Ostdiek, Walter Ostdiek, Irene Reining, Roberta O'Leary, and Louis Ostdiek.

Survivors include her three children, Marilyn Roth and husband, Steve of McCook, Herbert Johnson and wife, Laura of McCook, Judy Pursley and fiancé, Ted Graves of Spring Hill, Kan.; sisters, Kathleen Ham, Yvonne Eggers and husband, Johnny; brother, J.D. Ostdiek and wife, Marilyn; sisters-in-law, Agnes Ostdiek and Luetta Patton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. (MST), at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benkelman with the Rev. Christopher Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery.

A vigil service and rosary is today, 6:30 p.m. (MST), at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benkelman.

Forch Funeral Chapel of Benkelman is in charge of the arrangements.
