Ola N. Yauk

Ola Nadine Yauk, 88, died Sunday (Dec. 27, 2009), at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.
She was born May 3, 1921, at Oberlin Kan., the daughter of the late Roy Franklin and Dollie Alice (Van Pelt) Maggard. Ola grew up at Oberlin, Kan., where she graduated from high school in 1938.
On Aug. 8, 1942, Ola married Charles "Dale" Yauk at Oberlin, Kan., where they, made their home until moving to McCook in 1947. Her husband Dale worked as a bookkeeper and parts man for Budig Motors, Hormel Chevrolet and later Howard Kool Motors until retiring in 1983. Ola and Dale taught square dancing in McCook during the 1960s and 1970s. Ola was also a service representative for Avon products and did much sewing for her family. She was also a bookkeeper for Sidles in McCook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2004; one brother Lloyd Maggard; one sister-in-law and one niece.
Survivors include her daughter, Dee Swanson and husband, Marion of Hastings; two sisters, Zola Brown and husband, Earl of Oberlin, and Ella Betts of Oberlin; her granddaughter, Michelle Barton and husband, Mike of Blue Hill; two great-grandchildren, Merrit and Mackenzie Barton; five nieces; four nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with DeWayne Hanes, orator. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Herrmann Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
