OBERLIN -- James "Jim" Clarence Buchholz, 61, died Sunday (Aug. 23, 2009) at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

He was born June 30, 1948, in Denver, Colo., to John Gregory and Lois (Harris) Buchholz. He lived on a farm near Roggen, Colo., before moving to Sterling, Colo. He graduated high school in Sterling and attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. He then attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. He moved to Oberlin in 1971.

On Dec. 27, 1972, he married Jerilyn Josserand in Syracuse, Kan. They lived in Oberlin where he was an elementary vocal music teacher.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John G. and Lois Buchholz.

Survivors include his wife, Jerilyn Buchholz of Oberlin; sons, Nathan and wife, Whitney Buchholz of Yukon, Okla.; daughter, Amanda and husband, Trint of Newton, Kan.; brother, John and wife, Mary Buchholz of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Anne St. Clair of Greeley, Colo., and Ellen and husband, Terry Chatterton of Gallop, N.M.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.

Memorials may be given in his name.
