COZAD -- Harold Junior Wenburg, 86, died Saturday (May 23, 2009) at his home in Cozad.

He was born March 4, 1923, at Cozad to Harold B. and Mae (Griffis) Wenburg. He attended Cozad schools. On May 9, 1944, he entered the U.S. Navy where he served in World War II.

On June 6, 1946, he married ReNelda Boesch in Norton. The couple made their home in Cozad, where they lived their entire married life. In 1953, he began work with Paulsen Building Supply Company, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the Parkview United Methodist Church in Cozad for more than 50 years and the Parkview Crusaders, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 890 of Cozad. He served on the Grand Generation Center Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Maynard in 1926, Marvin in 1958 and Floyd in 2007.

Survivors include his wife, ReNelda Wenburg of Cozad; two sons, James and wife, Rogene Wenburg of Beaver City and Donald and wife, Sandy Wenburg of Dundee, Mich.; daughter, Carolyn the Rev. Doug Smith of Wahoo; brother, Kenneth D. and wife, Juanita Wenburg of Elm Creek; sister-in-law, Alice Wenburg of Lexington; two step-brothers, Kenneth and wife, Merriellen Statler of Calif., and Phillip and wife, Bernice Pebley of Cozad; half-sister, Margie and husband, Tom Nelson of Lexington; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Parkview United Methodist Church in Cozad with the Rev. Jaime Farias officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Cozad Cemetery.
