GERING -- Lola E. Main, 85 of Gering, died Monday (May 18, 2009) at Mitchell Care Center.

She was born on July 7, 1923, in Benkelman to Cyrus and Ruth (Stoutsenberger) Harper. She attended school in Benkelman. She moved to live with her sister, Goldie Collier in California, because her husband, Orval J. Main, was stationed in the Army there. They married July 7, 1942, in Los Angeles, Calif. The couple moved to Benkelman and later moved to Palisade, where she raised her children. She was the owner and operator of a restaurant. They moved to Gering in 1990. She worked several years at the Dayco Hose Plant in McCook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 12 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Sonya Houghtelling and husband, Kenny of Holyoke, Colo., and Gwenn Greeley and husband, Terry of Gering; sisters-in-law, Ruby Harper of Longmont, Colo., and Idabelle Harper of Benkelman; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Rachael LaBounty officiating. Interment will be at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.

Memorials have been established to the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
