OBERLIN -- Dell O. Pomeroy, 71, died Tuesday (March 24, 2009) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born Jan. 11, 1938, in Phillips County, Kan., to Stanford and Challice (Johnson) Pomeroy. He grew up in Phillips County and graduated from Phillipsburg High School. He was a member of the National Guard.

On Dec. 23, 1961, he married Roxie Pachner in Oberlin. They lived in Oberlin, where he was a pipeline inspector for Koch Oil Company.

He was a member of the United Church, NRA, American Legion, Lions Club, Jaycees and Oberlin Gun Club. He was the national champion Class C trap shooter in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Roxie of Oberlin; sons, Michael and wife, Holly Pomeroy of Enterprise, Kan., and Patrick and wife, C.J. Pomeroy of Norton, Kan.; brother, Maurice and wife, Anne Pomeroy of Tennessee; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at United Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Judi Strecker officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Phillipsburg, Kan.

Visitation will be Thursday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Friday from 8 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Memorials may be given to Oberlin Bus 22, the McCook Humane Society or the church.
