PLAINS, Kan. -- Lisa Marie Kitten and Nikolaus Austin Martin were united in marriage Dec. 27, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Plains, Kan., with the Rev. Angel Dy officiating.

Parents of the couple are Bernard and Shari Kitten of Plains, and Robert and Liane Martin of Herndon.

Grandparents of the bride are Warren and Ruth Angell of Plains, and Andrew and Mary Kitten of Slaton, Texas. Grandparents of the bridegroom are Raymond Kircher of Oberlin and the late Eleanor Kircher, August Martin and Ann Martin.

The bride wore a white taffeta gown by Sottero-Midgley. Crystal beading accented the bodice and the asymmetrical dropped waist, as well as the rest of the gown and its chapel-length train, both of which featured numerous gathered sections to create small drapes. She carried a bouquet of white roses interspersed with baby's breath to create a snowy effect evocative of the season. She wore a feather, pearl and rhinestone hair comb beneath a veil featuring hand-sewn beading which coordinated with her gown. The bride and her father walked down the aisle of a poinsettia-filled church.

Sister of the bride Kristin Massoth, Prairie Village, Kan., served as matron of honor and cousin of the bride,Andrea Kitten of Houston, Texas was a bridesmaid. Both wore deep red taffeta gowns and carried bouquets of burgundy roses, white gladiolus, and berries. Paul Marusak of Farmington, N.M., served as an attendant. He wore a black tuxedo with a dark red vest and tie and a burgundy rose boutonniere on the lapel.

The bridegroom wore a black tuxedo with a dark silver vest, a black tie, and a white rose boutonniere on the lapel. He carried the pocket watch given by his great-great-grandfather to his great-grandfather on his 21st birthday.

Adam Ketterl of Atwood, served as the best man. The bridgroom's brother, Kirche Martin of Indianola and Brandon Winter of Mount Hope, Kan., served as bridegroomsmen. All wore black tuxedos with dark silver vests and ties and burgundy rose boutonnieres.

The mother of the bride wore a floor-length satin gown in navy, while the father of the bride wore a classic tuxedo in black. The mother of the bridegroom wore a smoky blue and black dress, while his father wore a black tuxedo with vest and tie.

Niece of the bridegroom, Kiana Martin of Indianola, was the flower girl and wore a white gown which had been passed down from her mother. Cousin of the bride, Wyatt Angell, of Hugoton, Kan., was the ring bearer and wore a tuxedo with vest and tie to match the bridegroom.

The reception was in the Liberal Elks Club in Liberal, Kan., and included special performances by Lucas Maddy of Manhattan, Kan., and cousin of the bride, Janae Jones of Lubbock, Texas.

The couple enjoyed a ski honeymoon in Red River and Taos, N.M., and are making their home in Oxford, England, where the bride is a graduate student.
