CAMBRIDGE -- Joan L. Gufford, 75, died at Sunday (Dec. 14, 2008) at her home in Cambridge.

She was born in Cambridge, May 19, 1933. She grew up in the Cambridge area and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1951. She worked while in high school for Dr. Taylor's dentist office and the Minnick Hospital. She move to Denver to take a job.

She married to Charles "Chuck" Gufford on Oct. 31, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas. After her husband's retirement from the U.S. Air Force, they returned to Cambridge. She worked for the Cambridge Memorial Hospital for 10 years in the supply department and worked for the Cambridge Public School in the kitchen.

She volunteered in the Cambridge School cafeteria in the mornings for the breakfast program and at the Cambridge Senior Center. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School and served on various church committees.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Winifred Foster and Inez Dennis.

Survivors include her husband, Chuck of Cambridge; two sons, Steve Gufford and wife, Judy of Beatrice and Mike and wife, Lori of Cambridge; one brother, Dean and wife, Genny of Cambridge; two sisters, Lois Alber of Hastings and June Eldridge of Forestburg, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Cambridge.

Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Memorials may be left in her name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary to Good Samaritan Hospice, Trinity United Methodist Church or the Cambridge Senior Center.

Lockenour-Jones Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
