NORTON, Kan. -- Richard M. Hillebrand, 66, of Norton, died Thursday (Oct. 26, 2008) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born Dec. 4, 1941, at the family farm north of Clayton, Kan., to Joe and Olene (Brooks) Hillebrand. He attended school in New Almelo, Clayton and Norcatur, Kan., graduating from Norcatur High School in 1959.

He married Sue Gallentine on Feb. 19, 1977, in Thornton, Colo., and lived in Aurora, Colo., for nine years. They then moved to a farm north of Reager, Kan., in Norton County. He was an electrical lineman and farmer. He retired in 2004.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beverly Hillebrand and Delores Gilgenbach

Survivors include his wife, Sue of Norton; son, Jeff Hillebrand and wife, Tammy of Edison; brothers, Frank and wife,Susan of Clayton, Raymond and wife, Cecilia of Norton and Gary and wife, Susan of Norton; one sister, Catherine and husband, Richard Britton of Colby, Kan.; one grandson; and two step-grandsons.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, with the Rev. Ronald Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Clayton Cemetery, Clayton.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 - 8 p.m., and Monday from 8 a.m., until service time

Memorials may be given in his name.
