Wilma Elizabeth Bauer, age 92, of Eau Claire, Wis., passed away on Sept. 24, 2008, at Dove Healthcare Nursing & Rehabilitation in Eau Claire.

Wilma was born on March 12, 1916, in Mocksville, N.C., to Steven and Marian Reba Ellis. She attended Benkelman High School and McCook Business College.

She was united in marriage to Alfred R. Bauer on Aug. 14, 1940, in Culbertson, Neb. Wilma was a member of Eureka Chapter 86, Order of Eastern Star, P.E.O. Chapter FA, Daughters of the Nile, B.P.O. Does and McCook Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Steven and Marian Ellis; her husband, Alfred on Oct. 2, 1996; one brother, John Ellis; and two sisters, Josephine Buettgenbach and June Schmid.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Judy Proett (friend Randy) of Altoona, Wis., and Jane Andrews (friend Bob) of Maryville, Mo.; grandchildren, Stacy L. (Jerome) Duplush of California, Scott Andrews of Wisconsin, Laurie (Matt) Volpano of Minnesota and Melissa (Tobiah) Deutsch of Wisconsin; great-granddaughter, Gianna Volpano; great-grandsons, Dominic Volpano and Eli Deutsch. She is also survived by her sisters, Lillie Alt (friend Johnny), Darlene Korf, Joyce Crandon (friend Dick), Genevieve Haines, Pat (Don) Brehm; brothers, Hayden (Thayne) Ellis and Tom (Jennifer) Ellis.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Neb.
