ARAPAHOE -- Dixie Lee Rask, 68, of Edison, died Monday (Sept. 22, 2008) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was born Oct. 11, 1939, in Gosper County to Dale H. and Wilda Mae (Rhodes) Phillips. She grew up north of Arapahoe in Gosper County. She attended Arapahoe High School and graduated with the class of 1957.

She attended Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, before moving to Lincoln, where she worked at various jobs.

On Aug. 25, 1962, she married Thomas R. Rask in Lincoln. He was in the U.S. Navy, and from 1964 to 1980, they moved to various cities in the Western United States before returning to Lincoln.

She worked for R.R. Donnelly Company from 1980 until retiring in 1996. They then moved to Edison in 1996.

She was active with the Edison Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Beverly Ann Waline.

She is survived by husband, Thomas R, Rask of Edison; son, Todd Rask of Lincoln,; daughter, Brenda D. and husband, Michael Avery of Blue Rapids, Kan.; five grandchildren: and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Edison Christian Church with Kirk Einspahr officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.

Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the services at the church.
