ARAPAHOE -- Nettie M. Park, 86, formerly of Beaver City, died Wednesday (April 30, 2008) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 21, 1921, at Beaver City to Albert and Opal (Shellenbarger) Penrod. She grew up in Beaver City and attended Beaver City Schools.

She married Ben Park on June 16, 1937, at Phillipsburg, Kan. They lived in several states, namely Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Texas to find work. She ran the first cafe in Edison in 1968. She worked at Artistic Labels & Beckon-Dickinson at Holdrege for a time also. She worked for Mid-Nebraska in Oxford four a half years and ran cafes in Beaver City and Stamford.

In 1975, she built the Dew Drop In Cafe in Oxford. She retired from the cafe business in 1992, after an auto accident. Her husband died April 19, 1995. She spent the last two years at Sunshine Village in Arapahoe where she resided until her death.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Beaver City since 1940.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Tony Park; husband, Ben; two sons, Charles and Puzz; and son-in-law, Orville Stump.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Park and wife, Joann of Greeley, Colo., and Roger Park and wife, LaVonne of Kearney; daughters, Barbara Stump of Oxford, Ruth and husband, Frank Sayer of North Platte and Twila and husband, Harold Kappers of Edison; two brothers, Clair Penrod and wife June of Mesa, Ariz., and Merlin Penrod of Oxford; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m., at First Christian Church at Beaver City with the Revs. Phil Olsen and Keith Theobald officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home at Arapahoe and prior to services at the church on Saturday.
