DENVER, Colo. -- Ray Hope, 85, died Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2008).

He was born near Breckenridge, Texas, on Oct. 30, 1922, to Robert Ellis and Willie Ellen Hope and the youngest of triplets. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943, and married Lola Maxine Goble of McCook in 1946. Ray lived and worked in McCook from 1946 to 1962.

He worked in a grocery store and ran the Pepsi Cola route for Southwest Nebraska. He also sold insurance and real estate, as well as supervising custodial services in Adams County School District 12, in Colorado.

He served with Gideons International, as president of many PTA groups, Boy- and Cub-Scout leader, and chairman of the board of deacons in churches in Nebraska and Colorado. Even in retirement he volunteered at the Covenant Village of Colorado (CVC) office with mailings, etc.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Maxine, grandson, Donald Hope and sister, Kathleen Fambrough.

He is survived by his older sister, Elsie (E.C.) Sturgeon- McMurray and triplet sisters, Fay (Ted) Parks and May (Gilbert) Ball, all of Texas; his son, Michael (Colleen) Hope and daughter, Cheryl (Gary) Aggus, all of Arvada, Colo.; daughter, Mary (Randy) Radney of British Columbia, Calif.; six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

A memorial service was at CVC Chapel in Colorado.
