Nov. 19, 1914-Nov. 10, 2007

Clara Marie Peters went to be with her Lord Saturday (Nov. 10, 2007), at the Linden Court Nursing Home in North Platte, at the age of 92.

She was born Nov. 19, 1914, in Hitchcock County, the daughter of the late William and Katherine (Knoble) Klein. She grew up in the Palisade, community where she received her parochial education. The family moved to McCook in 1931.

On Oct. 9, 1938, Clara married Lee Peters at the German Church, later becoming Peace Lutheran Church in McCook.

She worked as a bookkeeper for the Chitwood Packing Company, Granger Brothers and the couple owned and operated their own apartment house.

Clara and Lee purchased Sloggett's Dairy Creme in 1955, renaming it Peters Dairy Creme and operating it until selling it in 1975. After selling the business, Clara found that retirement and staying at home were just not for her, so she went to work at the McCook Daily Gazette and then at Wal-Mart. After working at Wal-Mart for 10 years she finally retired in May of 2002.

She was a childhood member of German Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee on Dec. 18, 2003, her parents, and a 6-year-old sister, Frida Klein.

Clara is survived by three daughters, Donna Sailors and husband, Don of McCook, Phyllis Dowling and husband, Terry of North Platte and Kathy Larson and husband, Larry of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with the Rev. Bradley Rick and the Rev. Paul Warneke officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Family and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
