Robert Fred Dame of McCook died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. He was 75 years old.

Bob was born June 23, 1932, in Stratton to Fred A. and Ella B. (Parsons) Dame. He attended school through the fourth grade west of Stratton in a country school close to a farm where he and his parents lived at the time. In 1940, the family moved to Stratton where he graduated from Stratton High School in 1950.

He married Veronika "Verna" L. Sis at St. John's Catholic Church, rural Atwood, on June 9, 1953. To this union three sons were born, David, Doug and Roger.

He worked at the CU Libenberger and Co. Lumber Yard and the Fryer Service Station while in Stratton. He worked for the Standard Oil Company in Cambridge in 1954-55. After moving to McCook in 1957, Bob worked at the Casford Service Station, Stevens 7-Up and the Firestone Store. Bob then worked for Tek Tire Company for 16 years until 1984. Then he worked for Western Tire Company until 1986, when he retired due to rheumatoid arthritis.

He spent his time working in the garage, gardening, fishing and babysitting for his grandchildren.

Robert belonged to St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the McCook Elks Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jeremy Dame; his parents-in-law, Charles and Eleanora Sis; two step-brothers, Scott Carlyle and wife, Blanche and George Carlyle.

Survivors include his wife, Verna of McCook; three sons, David and wife, Cindy, Doug and wife, Brenda and Roger and wife, Linda Dame all of McCook; eight grandchildren, Chelsey and husband, Cody Feeken, Derek Dame, Cody Dame and wife, Amanda, Lindsey Dame, Branigan Baumann, Brady Dame, Bryce Dame and Brendon Dame; two great-grandchildren, Brett Fraker and Natalie Dame; a sister-in-law, Gerry Carlyle of Sun City, Ariz.; relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, at 10 a.m., with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Rosary will be Tuesday, at 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel in McCook. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name.
