CURTIS -- Lloyd "Gus" Wolgamott, 79, died Saturday (Sept. 8, 2007), at the State Veterans Home in Grand Island.

He was born Sept. 4, 1928, on a farm south of Elwood to Ray and Catherine (Force) Wolgamott.  He attended Curtis Public School and graduated from Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1946.

He was inducted into the US Army in 1950.  He served honorably for two years, including a tour of duty in Korea.

He was employed for many years by Independent Oil Co. before purchasing his own business, L.W. Service. 

He was a member of the American Legion, served as a Boy Scout leader and on the Curtis Public School Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Hilda; two sons, L. Kent of Lincoln and D. Kirk and wife, Jennifer of Burbank, Calif.; "special" daughter Guech Po Seng and her family of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; one sister, Laura Belle; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, 2:30 p.m., at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.

Visitation is today, 1-7 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis.
